Our body from skin to brain is made up of cells of different lineage. All of our cells have the same core - the DNA - which is the basic scripts of life. Meaningful regions of DNA are called genes which contains instructions for synthesis of RNAs which translates to Proteins. Proteins are the diverse workforce of the cells.

At Genescope we try to decipher the meanings and implications of the genes of an individual. Each individual is unique blend of inherited traits from his biological parents. Often the people are now part of a community with restricted gene flow but in the distant past all came from a single grand ancestor. Analyzing the genome, we can reconstruct the odd paths our ancestors have taken to reach at where we are now!!!! At the same time, like the flowers in a bunch differs, everyone is distinct with a unique blend of traits. the Environment always favor the person with necessary resources... A child can be fostered to his full potential if we have the idea what natural gifts and resources he already has...

Changes in genes (mutations) can be inherited or acquired. Similarly acquired germinal mutations can be transferred to next generation. These mutations could cause cancers in some individuals but the respective genes could be dormant until some triggers are applied  like cigarette smoking, some food, deleterious lifestyle, pollution etc... Having an early information about the mutations and potential disease conditions will definitely have an impact to improve the life and life expectancy at least.

The biggest advantage of Genescope is that we doesn't require a medical prescription to conduct the test. Interested persons can book for a test in the website or app. Upon order conformation, a self operated sample collection kit will be sent. Just follow the instructions to draw enough saliva in to the kit and courier to us. All the subsequent stages of sample processing and analysis will be updated realtime in the app. A final report with the information sought for will be delivered directly to your app or email provided.

The cost of genetic tests can range from Rs. 3,000/- to Rs. 30,000/- depending on the number and nature of genes under investigation. Genescope has options to test for a single gene of interest to whole expressome sequencing to whole genome sequencing. For diseases like cancers, normally analysis is performed for a panel of target genes.

For the convenience of our clients, we have facilitated credit card payments in installments. The details will be discussed by our team when you order for the sample collection kit.

OUR METHOD

At Genescope we offer services at different levels depending up on the requirement of the clients. It can vary from testing for the presence of particular genes causing specific genetic diseases to whole genome sequencing to look at the entire genome of an individual which reveals any acquired mutations and SNPs.

Whole Exome Sequencing (WES):

Our large genome contains approximately 1.8 lakhs of functional genes, the pool of which is called exome. More than 85% of mutations in the exome have an impact on genetic diseases. There are more than 30 exome linked single gene disorders inheriting in Mendelian fashion.

Whole Transcriptome Sequencing (WTS):

Different tissues in our body are designated to perform specific duties. There are tissues secreting enzymes / hormones, facilitating movement, immune cells responding to infection etc.. Not all genes are active in all these tissues, neither they are active at all times. Transcriptome represents such active genes in a tissue at a given point of time. A transcriptome analysis will give a clue on the active genes in a tissue where it might be responsible for a  specific disease.

Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS):

On the other hand WGS is comprehensive. This anaysis reveals the information of the entire genome of an individual including acquired mutations in the lifetime and SNPs. Often they can cause diseases in the individual and their inheritance cannot be overlooked. Analysing the junk region is helpful as it regulates the expression of specific genes in many different ways that are not yet fully understood.

Specific Gene Sequencing (SGS):

When your close relatives in family has a history of specific genetic disease / disorder, you may want to check yourself for the genetic predisposition within yourself. This analysis serves this purpose.
